Joseph Kamel is a 27-year-old Franco-Egyptian singer-songwriter. In the tradition of his elders from the Nouvelle Scène Française (Ben Mazué, Jeremy Frérot, Grand Corps Malade), his music reflects his voice: striking, generous, and inspiring. He notably made a name for himself on the show The Artist on France 2, as the opening act for Julien Doré's Zénith tours, and in the Spotify 2023 radar selection. His first album, Miroirs, will be released on October 27, led by his single Celui qui part.
Born in Egypt to an Egyptian father, an international consultant, and a French mother, a humanitarian doctor, Joseph spent the early years of his life with his brother in a Cairo apartment where the albums of Supertramp, Tracy Chapman, and the vinyl records of Abdel Wahab or Fairuz coexisted. Between the piano and the oud (traditional oriental instrument), he began his musical practice at the age of 8 and quickly discovered production, revealing the extent of his talent. His first album, Miroirs, is a collection of stories, futures, and origins in which he tells his own story. With his singular voice, Joseph unveils his reality and emotions through song, immersing us in his memories. From Caen to the bustling hive of Cairo, the ruptures and questions that shape his life unfold in an organized disorder. This album reflects the human relationships experienced or observed by the artist: the fear of saying goodbye, the beautiful, the less beautiful, the importance of image in society, and our eternal search for truth.
