Jonas Kaufmann, a native of Munich, is a unique tenor. His curiosity and vocal dexterity have indeed allowed him to tackle an exceptionally wide repertoire, from Verdi and Puccini to the great Wagnerian roles. After five solo albums as well as several DVDs of his stage appearances released by Decca, this album brings together the most beautiful excerpts from Jonas Kaufmann's recordings for the label. It is worth noting the presence of two recordings of pieces by Mascagni and Richard Strauss, which appear for the first time on CD, as well as the appearance of Renée Fleming for the duet from La Rondine by Puccini.
