After composing the magnificent soundtrack for Soul, the latest animated film from Pixar, the world-renowned multi-instrumentalist known for his appearances on the talk show "Stephen Colbert" unveils here a powerful and universal album. He opens a new musical chapter deeply rooted in current events with this opus, drawing from a multitude of different genres, taking inspiration from Gospel, Funk, R&B, and of course Jazz. He addresses the themes that are dear to him, developing his commitment to the Black cause in the United States through his experience between New Orleans and New York. On "We Are", he surrounds himself with an impressive cast of musicians including Mavis Staples, Quincy Jones, Zadie Smith, PJ Morton, Trombone Shorty... Jon Batiste delivers the album of maturity, which more than ever achieves its goal: using music to make the world a better place.
