Gang War

Description

In 1979, JOHNNY THUNDERS, renowned guitarist of the Heartbreakers and the New York Dolls, teams up with WAYNE KRAMER, legendary guitarist of the cult Detroit band MC5, to form GANG WAR, a collaboration that will last nearly a year. Johnny has just released his album So Alone, and Wayne is out of prison after serving two of his four-year sentence for cocaine trafficking. Although Gang War never released an album and did not sign with a label — the band was underground at the time — this collaboration is now considered a mythical rock supergroup. These live recordings in Toronto, Boston, and New York bear witness to this unique partnership between two rock guitar icons. The guitarist of the New York Dolls/Heartbreakers in collaboration with the guitarist of MC5! Includes five bonus tracks Live at Max's, previously unreleased and only available on bootleg. Gatefold sleeve with flyers and detailed notes by Nina Antonia, Thunders' biographer.
