With a smile on his face and freedom more firmly rooted than ever, Johnny delivers a third deep and enigmatic album, ZANZIBAR. - - This third installment of the Narvalo trilogy was recorded, produced and sublimated by Jean Lamoot in 2022, between Paris (Mercredi 9) and Carpentras (Studio Véga). A collective creation with his brothers, Kik (harmonicas), Ronan Drougard (electric guitars) and Steven Goron (drums) who have followed him body and soul for so many years, this collection of 13 tracks takes us into the vastness of his imagination, yet so rooted in reality, as on "Vers les Îles", in which he invites Rosemary Standley, the radiant singer from Moriarty, to set sail with him, offering us a magnificent duet. - - Fixi (Java, Tony Allen), Camille Bazbaz and Guimba Kouyaté, Salif Keita's guitarist, subtly embellish this beautiful score. - - Love songs, deliberately slower tempos, a more refined voice and sumptuous French adaptations of The Clash's "Rebel Waltz", Hank Williams' "I Heard That Lonesome Whistle Blow" and Johnny Cash's "What Do I Care" complete the beautifully drawn picture of his beloved suburb.
