The French rocker's seventh LP, released in 1963 and reissued in early 2017, *L'Idole des jeunes* (Teenage Idol) would stick with Johnny Hallyday, who, even at 70, remained an enduring, iconic figure of French rock. The title of "Idol" was borrowed from Ricky Nelson's "Teen Age Idol" and adapted into French by Ralph Bernet. Full of naiveté and freshness, this album nonetheless marked a turning point: velvety voice, discreet but effective arrangements... Johnny was now addressing all audiences and was about to become the great star we know. A true classic. From Fnac's 2017 ideal discography.
