« Miracles » by John Hassall is described as a London love story, but also as a reflection on the ability to find poetry and wonder in everyday life. The song evokes the importance of dreaming and pursuing one's ambitions as a source of hope. The video, directed by Gary Lashmar, features a couple loosely inspired by Hassall and his Danish wife Line. The album was largely recorded in his home studio in Aarhus, Denmark, where he has lived since 2009. It is produced by the band itself, with a notable influence from violinist Clementine Brown on the sound. The songs, totaling ten, were selected from many compositions, some evolving significantly to become essential to the record. Written in collaboration with poet Steev Burgess, the album explores childhood memories, travels, dreams, and historical themes. Musician Peter Doherty also contributes to the writing of one track. This record follows Wheels to Idyll (2017), praised for its pastoral and psychedelic rock with hints of Laurel Canyon. Hassall is also known for his work with The Libertines and the band Yeti. Finally, The April Rainers, his current band based in Denmark, accompany this project with richer and more refined arrangements.
