Lost Themes - Vinyle Bleu Vortex

Description

After shooting a new phantasmagorical work (Inland Empire, 2006), David Lynch abandoned cinema, preferring musical composition and plastic arts. The American director's initiative reportedly inspired a filmmaker with similar obsessions and projects: John Carpenter is preparing to unveil Lost Themes, a first solo album (and not the soundtrack for a new cinematic piece), released - like David Lynch - by Sacred Bones Records. "I was used to illustrating images, which can be both positive and negative. This time, there was no pressure, no untimely demands from actors, no waiting from the staff, no imminent deadlines. [...] The initial idea was to produce something quite substantial, quite generous, given the lack of restrictions. It's a new world opening up to me." Assisted by Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies (who composed the soundtrack for I, Frankenstein), the New York director produced an ominous collection. The American artist hopes, in turn, to fuel the ambition and works of certain (young) directors, inspired by Carpenter's Lost Themes.
