John Calvin Abney returns with *Transparent Towns*, his seventh studio album, due September 19th on his own label Tin Canyon Records via Well Kept Secret. Rooted in the Oklahoma plains, this introspective record questions memory and how we make sense of our recollections, even when they become uncertain or blurred. Largely composed during his recovery from vocal cord surgery in 2023, *Transparent Towns* reflects a period of silence and deep reflection. "We live with copies of memories, stacked in our phones, but we lose the ability to tell our own stories," explains Abney, who spent nearly a year without singing. This forced break allowed him to rethink his routines and redefine what truly matters. After a long time accompanying other artists on the road, Abney here reclaims his place in the spotlight. With ten tracks blending melancholic sweetness and lucid calm, he delivers an album imbued with fragility and resilience. *Transparent Towns* invites us to accept impermanence, without denying the beauty that can still be found within it.
