Joe Jackson, renowned musician and producer, unveils his latest artistic project 'What A Racket !' - a new album that revives the songs of the enigmatic early 20th-century English music hall artist Max Champion, one of the most fascinating Music Hall performers. Born in 1882 in East London and an aspiring artist, he shared the stage with very big stars such as Gus Ellen and Vesta Tilley, but his career came to an abrupt halt due to World War I, leaving his works to fall into obscurity. It was not until 2014, when Max's sheet music began to resurface, and in 2019, enough titles reappeared to allow Joe Jackson to resurrect them with a 12-piece orchestra. 'What A Racket !' presents eleven songs by Max Champion for the first time in over a century. Joe Jackson says about this: "They were wonderful songs in their time, but they are also surprisingly modern. Sometimes, it's almost as if Max is speaking directly to us from his early 20th-century London, to us, at the beginning of the 21st."
