COUNTRY GHETTO

Description

JJ Grey & Mofro (formerly Mofro) is an American Southern blues-soul-rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. The music of JJ Grey and Mofro has been described as a combination of blues, funk, soul, and rock. All songs are written by JJ Grey and reflect the area where he grew up around Jacksonville, Florida. JJ Grey credits artists such as Big Bad John and Jim Reeves for their writing style and how that style influenced the way he writes his songs. Grey also credits Southern rock bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and Jerry Reed as artists who influenced his musical style, as well as more soul artists such as Toots Hibbert and Otis Redding. JJ Grey and Mofro are also known for their extensive touring schedule and have continuously played major summer music festivals, including Bonnaroo, All Good Festival, Austin City Limits, Wakarusa, and Rothbury. Early in their touring careers, JJ Grey and Mofro gained fame in the jam band scene while touring with bands such as Widespread Panic, Galactic, and Ben Harper. JJ Grey attributes most of the band's strength to their live performances rather than studio work. Since the beginning of their career in 2001, JJ GREY & MOFRO has released 9 albums, 6 of which are on Alligator Records. "Country Ghetto" is their 1st album on Alligator (their 3rd album, with the previous two being self-produced) and was released in 2007. Since then, it has sold over 110,000 copies worldwide. The song "The Sun Is Shining Down" was the soundtrack for season 3 of "House Of Cards". Hence this Vinyl edition for the first time.
