«For the title of this album, we also thought of "Echoes of the Mountains of Armenia," "Stories of Our Past," "Silent Stones," "Silence," "The Holy Mountains."
The duduk is the symphony of the human soul. It is both the expression of lamentation over our bitter past, the song of our current life, and the hymn of our faith and strength.
This album was recorded in Geghard, a medieval monastery in Armenia that is partly carved into the surrounding mountains and surrounded by cliffs. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Its architecture and acoustics are very astonishing and, through our duduk quartet, this place somehow tells its story from yesterday to today.
This music is profoundly luminous, powerful, and listeners can visualize the pain, hope, and life of the Armenian people who have been separated over the centuries and find themselves at a meeting point between East and West.
