In 1977, crooner Jimmy Jules teamed up with singer Jackie Spencer and the band Nuclear Soul System for a Christmas single that was as singular as it was explosive. Released on Jules's personal label, Jim Gem, this track combines venomous funk and festive groove, driven by Spencer's powerful voice and Jules's relentless vocals. Lost in the immense disco wave of the time, this atypical record long fell into oblivion. However, over the decades, it has acquired cult status, sought after by collectors and fans of rare funk and soul. Its raw energy and hybrid character have made it a unique piece in the history of festive music. The rediscovery of this track even inspired, much later, Sharon Jones's Christmas album, which took up the idea of a winter funk with offbeat accents.
