Nashville-based artist Jess Kerber started playing guitar at the age of 12, and her early willingness to experiment with different chords and playing styles—influenced by artists such as Joni Mitchell and Susan Tedeschi—led to the development of a unique sonic palette and an authentic and personal approach to songwriting. Nodding to Americana traditions, producer Will Orchard and Jess Kerber—along with engineer Charlie Dahlke of The Brazen Youth—have crafted their own sub-genre, both intimate and universal, comforting and raw. Across the album, Jess Kerber’s rich, velvety tenor is laced with a profound tenderness and warmth, while varied arrangements of pedal steel, Wurlitzer, drums, and guitar create the ambient shimmer.
