Swedish singer Jennie Abrahamson is back with Reverseries, a new album filled with sublime ethereal pop songs about relationships, humanity, and love. Two years earlier, her album Gemini Gemini melted Sweden by being voted independent album of the year at the Manifest Awards, and France has also slowly succumbed to her charms. On her previous albums, Les Inrockuptibles placed her "somewhere between a more sober Lily Allen and a less crazy Kate Bush," Nova called it "a little pop gem with delicate arrangements," and Libération described her compositions as "devastatingly effective." Jennie then came to play in France alongside Ane Brun, did some sessions for Europe 1 and France Inter, and toured the Zéniths as the opening act for Peter Gabriel. After an intense tour, Jennie settled down to write and record. She reunited with her studio partner Johannes Berglund (Shout Out Louds, Owen Pallett, The Knife) and her band, with the goal of recapturing the same warmth and energy created during her concerts. The result is Reverseries, a beautiful and dreamy album that serves as both a synthesis and a continuation of a sound that has taken shape over the years. The songs have a strong evocative power, conjuring up images in warm colors and distinct sensations. Her voice has grown stronger, while the music is confident and welcoming, full of playful melodies and shimmering synths that might evoke Lykke Li or Robyn.
