Jeff Parker is back with Forfolks, a new solo guitar album that was recorded by Graeme Gibson at Sholo Studio in Altadena, California (Jeff's home) over two days in June 2021. It includes interpretations of Thelonious Monk's "Ugly Beauty" and "My Ideal", as well as six original compositions, including "Four Folks", "La Jetée" (a track he recorded with Tortoise in 1998), and four entirely new works, driven by loops, that blend melodic improvisation and electronic textures. Subtle solo guitar pieces, stripped-down yet brilliant, bridge the old and the new and set new standards toward the music of the future.
