JEANNE MOREAU, a major figure in French culture, left us in August. An iconic actress, Jeanne Moreau was also a significant figure in French song. She began singing as an amateur in theater, at the Comédie Française but wanted to "sing songs." The man who wrote & composed her first songs out of friendship was a friend and painter by profession: BASSIAK (Cyrus Bassiak being the pseudonym of Serge Rezvani). In a gathering among friends, FRANÇOIS TRUFFAUT heard "le tourbillon" and asked Jeanne Moreau to sing it in the film "Jules et Jim." At the same time, JACQUES CANETTI was often the first. The first to take Jeanne Moreau into a recording studio to record and fix "le tourbillon" and all these first songs in 1963. The Jacques Canetti label thus released over the years all the most emblematic songs of Jeanne Moreau, starting with the songs of Bassiak. And here pays tribute to Jeanne Moreau: for the first time, all the songs written by Bassiak for Jeanne Moreau are gathered on a disc, including 4 unavailable tracks, which were not included in the original vinyl pressings.
