Golden Jubilee / Marc Nagels 50 Years Of Organ Building
Description
The decision to record these three instruments on CD was made in close consultation with the organists. They are part of my work as an organ builder, and I am glad I did not undertake these modifications when I was younger. It is only thanks to the experience gained with age that I was able to achieve such results. Although I did not build these instruments from A to Z, I was able to deeply reshape their sound according to my own aesthetic vision. Each of the three organs underwent radical modifications. The German organ found a new home in Nieuwerkerken, in a magnificent Belgian case. It was ultimately a true puzzle. The pipes, initially with a somewhat aggressive sound, were carefully reworked so that they could flourish in their new environment and integrate into a balanced sound. The instrument was also complemented by a few old and precious stops still available. The modest Ruef organ from Stevoort was provided with sufficient air supply to produce a clear and convincing sound, effortlessly. The instrument now fills the space with a warm and balanced sound. The majestic three-manual organ from Zonhoven was able to retain all its versatility without being reduced to its original, more modest configuration. Significant modifications were nevertheless necessary. The high registers no longer dominate the whole, but allow their brilliance to express itself freely and naturally.
