Description

One of Bach's sons, Carl Philipp Emmanuel, said of his father: "In his youth and until an advanced age, he played the violin with a clear and penetrating sound." It is therefore not surprising to find very great works for the instrument in the composer's catalog. Directly inspired by the study of Venetian concertos (Albinoni, Vivaldi), the scores recorded here reveal the brightest side of Bach. The constant melodic invention and the great freedom of the soloist testify to the Italian influence and his multifaceted genius. Yehudi Menuhin delivers one of his purest records, admirably supported by Christian Ferras in the Concerto for Two Violins.
