Rinaldo Alessandrini shares in this new solo album his passionate and panoramic journey through the keyboard works of Johann Sebastian Bach. While Rinaldo Alessandrini's recordings with his Concerto Italiano are frequent, the harpsichordist's solo albums are rarer and all the more precious. Bach holds a special place here, as evidenced by the previous releases A la manera italiana and Præludien & Fugen. This third program, entirely dedicated to Bach, brings together around thirty short pieces by the composer, selected from his approximately two hundred keyboard works, linked by their tonality. The path laid out, which finds coherence in the harmonic articulation of the three-part mirror recital, allows for a stroll through an immense collection where all chronology is erased, recomposed for the occasion from preludes, fugues, sinfonie, inventions, fantasies, ricercar, and the transcription of the solo violin sonata BWV 1003. "This allows us to irreversibly traverse the entire range of languages employed, from the simplest to the most elaborate, and why not include pieces whose attribution remains uncertain," explains Esteban Hernández Castello in the booklet. In Rinaldo Alessandrini's playing, one finds that understated elegance that characterizes him, the attention to detail and color, as well as a luminous understanding of polyphony, refined over the years through his work with Concerto Italiano and his regular engagement with the vocal repertoire.
