A double recipient of the Victoires de la musique (in 1992 with the Trio Ceccarelli and in 2003 with the Trio Sud), Jean-Marc Jafet has had the chance throughout his career to perform at the world's greatest festivals. This experience, of which he is very proud, he wishes to extend and share with this album as a bridge connecting musical cultures as well as generations. This record celebrates both the visceral attachment he has to the music of his childhood, to traditional and vocal Jazz that he has never stopped listening to and playing, but it also celebrates his love for the rhythms and melodies filled with sunshine and joy of life that are the music of Brazil, Cuba, and Africa. Surrounded by a "dream lineup," including Frank Amsallem on piano and Stéphane Guillaume on sax, we hope you will enjoy listening as much as he enjoyed recording.
