"The Atacama Experience" was conceived as a musical journey by jazz violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. This journey begins from the introduction with a Parisian street scene, followed by thirteen songs that lead the listener through different countries, a range of different impressions and emotions, as well as into the musical past and present. The recordings were made between January 2006 and February 2007. During this period, Ponty and his group toured different continents and performed in South America, Europe, Russia, the United States, and India. In the meantime, he returned to France several times to transform new impressions and new perspectives of recordings for this project.
