New album, much more atypical and personal. JD McPherson is much more a pioneer than a traditionalist. He indeed takes an unexplored path, creating music where 50s rock'n'roll meets contemporary songwriting and very innovative recording techniques. Upon its release in 2012, his first album, Signs & Signifiers, was described by Mojo as an irresistible success and by All Music Guide as a true gem, an album with rock and bluesy accents subtly breaking free from the conventions that most vintage rock records remain trapped in. For his new album, Let the Good Times Roll, McPherson wanted to keep the raw power of the first, while infusing it with a more mysterious dimension. To this end, he enlisted the services of Mark Neill, known for his work as a producer and sound engineer with various bands sharing a love for the history of rock'n'roll: the Paladins in the 80s and, more recently, the Black Keys and their singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach, who is himself a friend of McPherson and co-wrote Bridge Builder for Let the Good Times Roll.
