The "First Lady of Jazz" Rita Reys (1924-2013) began her singing career at the age of 16. This career took her on tour across Europe and later to America. There, she sang with well-known musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Young and Jimmy Smith. Reason enough for a tribute!And now another one: the Dutch Jazz Archives recently discovered original arrangements by arranger Oliver Nelson (1932-1975) from the sparkling album that Rita Reys recorded in 1965 with Nelson. This album now has cult status worldwide, if only because of the star lineup that plays on it.
