Jana Horn's third album was written in New York and recorded in the Texas desert. Accompanied by her trio — Jade Guterman on bass and Adam Jones on drums — she settled into Sonic Ranch studio to record a self-titled album comprising ten soundscapes that seem to come from nowhere. Comparisons to Yo La Tengo and Phil Elverum remain relevant on "Love" and "All in bet," while stripped-down post-punk rhythms enliven "Designer" and "Don't Think." In 2023, The New Yorker wrote: "Horn’s work is part of a fraternity of loners that transcends genres, with traces of Young Marble Giants, Syd Barrett, and Broadcast."
