Remember me, my dear

Description

25 years after the release of Officium, the authentic birth certificate of this revolutionary alliance between Jan Garbarek and The Hilliard Ensemble, 'Remember Me, My Dear', a new album recorded during the group's last tour in October 2014, is released today. The program is emblematic of the extraordinary diversity of the repertoire that the Norwegian saxophonist and the British vocal quartet have gradually developed and explored over this quarter of a century - the pieces performed range from Pérotin, Hildegard von Bingen, Guillaume le Rouge, or Antoine Brumel to Komitas, Arvo Pärt, and many others. The Hilliard/Garbarek association, in concert, considerably transcended its sources, ancient music, contemporary composition, and improvisation. This latest album provides new evidence of this by reminding us how this unique combination between Garbarek and The Hilliard Ensemble has given birth to unprecedented music in its exploration of sound, and of a beauty that remains as intense as ever.
