Djesse /vol.1

Description

With Djesse Vol.1, which he recorded with the Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley, Collier reveals a new facet of his virtuosity and creativity without blinders. For this project, for which he is responsible for the compositions and arrangements, he clearly moves away from jazz to embrace a bit of all styles. Pop, gospel, musical, world, soul, the list is endless. His symphonic and incredibly melodic music is supported by the voices of the ensembles Take 6 and Voces8, soul sister Laura Mvula, Moroccan Hamid El Kasri, and even his mother, Suzie Collier! In this 360° patchwork, Jacob Collier even covers 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' by Police and 'All Night Long' by Lionel Richie, to make his journey even crazier. A little prodigy boosted by videos overflowing with YouTube views, Jacob Collier became known for his jazz-fusion and vocal work. In 2016, with his first album logically titled 'In My Room' (a nod to the Beach Boys whose song of the same name he revisited), he built his universe around solid soul values, and it was then hard not to think of Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, or Ed Motta.
