The album was released in July 1971, following his hit album “Songs for a Tailor.” Once again, Jack's intention was to create a record radically different from the one he recorded with Cream. “Harmony Row” further broadened the musical palette explored on “Songs for a Tailor,” with compositions stylistically drawing from jazz, folk, classical, rock, and oriental music. Guitarist Chris Spedding and drummer John Marshall participated in the recording sessions at Command Studios in London. Jack was on vocals, piano, organ, bass, and cello. “Harmony Row” was praised upon its release and is now rightly considered a masterpiece and one of Jack’s landmark works. This box set of this special album includes the original 1971 mix (newly remastered from the original tapes), as well as magnificent new stereo and 5.1 surround mixes of the album by Stephen W. Tayler (from the original 16-track tapes), plus unreleased outtakes and demos. The box set also includes a magnificent 1971 performance by Jack, accompanied by a band featuring Graham Bond (organ, vocals), Chris Spedding, and John Marshall, for the Granada TV show Out Front, as well as a documentary on Jack made for the German TV series Swing In, first broadcast in 1972. It also includes an illustrated book with a new essay by Sid Smith, making this the definitive version of this classic album.
