It's Sunday. Dawnie hates Sundays, a day when nothing happens, a flat and unproductive day when energy is no longer channeled. Lucas loves Sundays: a day when nothing happens, so a day when you can do everything: play cards, paint, stare at the ceiling. Lucas and Dawnie meet up to do everything and nothing on Sundays... then start writing and composing songs together. Sunday after Sunday, their enthusiasm leads to one, then two, then three songs, and finally an album. In May 2018, Dawnie and Lucas apply for a springboard organized by Les Inrocks... It's Sunday is among the 10 finalist candidates and is the only rock band with a real drum kit. Spotted on this occasion by the Howlin Banana label and the Midi Artistes booking agency, It's Sunday's stage career is launched: Festival Wheels & Waves in Biarritz, Midi Festival and opening act for Jesus and Mary Chain at the Trianon. It's Sunday leaves the bedroom and the dream becomes reality: introducing a wider audience to wobbly and naive songs in a maelstrom of dreamy spatial guitars and haunting and ethereal lingering voices. One thinks of Pavement, Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine or Slowdive... all references that do not place It's Sunday in a revivalist approach, but which show us that it is possible to reinvent the aesthetic of the 90s with malice and accuracy while avoiding the pitfalls of that blessed decade.
