The title of Ital Tek's seventh album, "Timeproof," reflects what Alan Myson observed and learned during its creation. Firstly, there's the distortion of time perception within the creative space – being in the studio creates a timeless environment where the mind begins to wander, and the perception of time is altered. Secondly, the strange effect of the past few years of lockdown somehow contaminated the title, temporarily contracting our collective notion of time. Thirdly, Alan learned that spending time away from the studio can be as effective as being there, giving everyone the necessary space for their process. He appreciates the power of nature, puts other things into perspective, and refreshes his ability to approach work with patience and creativity. Overall, "Timeproof" feels more introspective than Alan's last album, "Outland." The album's sounds and textures hint at brutality, yet gently pulse and evolve with a more refined inner life. It's vast and elegant, well-balanced between light and dark, more frothy and dreamy than the extremes of "Outland." When crafting the album, Alan spent about a year working quickly and intuitively, chaining together ideas, sketches, and sonic experiments without seeking to finish or perfect anything. Over another year, he delved into the details, transforming all these raw materials and sounds into something concrete. Alan also looked at older ideas and materials, trying them out, reworking them, and sampling them, to integrate them into this new body of work.
