Upward Curve - The Recordings 1973-1976
Description
3 CD box set new from the famous jazz rock group Isotope.Isotope was formed in 1973 by the talented guitarist Gary Boyle and originally included Jeff Clyne on bass, Brian Miller on keyboards, and Nigel Morris on drums. Clyne had previously played with Ian Carr's Nucleus, while Gary Boyle had played with Stomu Yamashta's East Wind.Isotope's first eponymous album was released in 1974 and was in the tradition of jazz-rock fusion pioneered by groups such as Tony Williams' Lifetime and The Mahavishnu Orchestra. Although their first album was critically acclaimed, Brian Miller and Jeff Clyne left Isotope shortly after its release and were replaced by former Soft Machine bassist Hugh Hopper and keyboardist Laurence Scott. This lineup recorded the excellent album "Illusion", produced by Poli Palmer, a former member of Family. Considered a classic of jazz rock, "Illusion" was critically acclaimed and achieved Isotope's greatest commercial success.During the recording of their final album, "Deep End", in March 1976, the lineup included Boyle and Morris, accompanied by Dan K. Brown on bass, as well as Zoe Kronberger and Frank Roberts on keyboards. This 3 CD box set has been remastered from the original tapes and includes nine bonus tracks from a 1973 concert for BBC Radio's "In Concert" program, as well as a 1974 session for BBC TV's "Old Grey Whistle Test" program and four 2001 remixes.Buy Upward Curve - The Recordings 1973-1976 at the best price
