Stockholm-based Isak Edberg's Belt of Orion is the composer's second solo album on XKatedral, and his first to focus solely on instrumental music in the form of two long-form pieces for solo piano. Belt of Orion is a piece that explores the contrast between two musical textures, one flowing, airy and progressive, the other static, regular and repetitive. The music therefore uses two different and contrasting types of musical hypnosis, with the aim of lulling the listener into a dark and perhaps troubling sleep.
