ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FIGURES IN AMERICAN FOLK RETURNS WITH A SPLENDID NEW ALBUM"For an artist, talking about their own work is often awkward, but my new album, Beast Epic, is so important to me that I wanted to take a moment to explain why. I've been making music for 15 years now and I feel really lucky to have released 5 albums, numerous EPs and singles, contributed to several film soundtracks, and collaborated with people much more talented than myself. Beast Epic is filled with this idea but in a different way because I've been able to accumulate several experiences that have shaped me today. While my old songs painted a picture of youth transitioning into adult life and all the guilty pleasures and disappointments it brings with it; Beast Epic talks about the beauty and pain of growing up and moving forward in life. For me, this slice of life has been more generous in its gifts and darker in its tragedies. The sound of Beast Epic also recalls older albums, obviously. Over the years, I've enjoyed testing different genres, different acoustics and different writing styles, and all that distance traveled is evident in the emotion and arrangements here, but the muscles seem to have relaxed and do what they do best effortlessly.
