AUSTRALIAN FOLK ARTIST RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM FULL OF VULNERABILITY AND POETRYAustralian folk artist Indigo Sparke shares her deeply personal experiences of addiction, healing, grief, and joy with a debut album highlighting the spaces between the polarity of tenderness and courage. Indigo taught herself to play guitar around the age of 20. Over the following years, she established herself on the Australian music scene, and released an EP, *Night Bloom*, in 2016. Subsequently, she opened for Big Thief in 2017/2018, before being invited to SXSW in 2019. That year, she lived and traveled across America, in numerous hotel rooms and amidst vast landscapes traversed by endless roads, in places like New York, Minneapolis, Topanga, Taos. She channeled her creative energy into this debut album, *Echo*, recorded between Los Angeles, Italy, and New York, co-produced by Indigo, Adrianne Lenker (of Big Thief) and Andrew Sarlo (producer for Big Thief, Nick Hakim, Bon Iver, Hand Habits). The album was made at Figure 8 Studio in New York, which belongs to musician Shahzad Ismaily. Phil Weinrobe (producer/engineer for Leonard Cohen, Damien Rice, Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek...) recorded and mixed the album. This incredibly profound and intimate debut album is an ode to death and decline. Indigo Sparke's art seeks the vulnerability that comes with a sense of true security, a vulnerability that can give access to a world beyond tangible experience. While Indigo's songs are an oceanic experience of emotion, her poetry is grounded. Like stone cairns on a path, her poems are left to the listener as crossroads where something takes over beyond the logical mind.
