Cincinnati psych-rockers In The Pines return with *Sunbeam Dream*, their fourth album and their most shoegaze effort to date. Recorded in the band's home studio, set up in Peter Foley's basement with vintage equipment they painstakingly restored themselves, the album fully embraces synthetic textures and spacious melodies, giving sounds a central and narrative role in their universe. The production process allowed the band to work with an unprecedented level of meticulousness: entire days dedicated to finding the perfect resonance of an acoustic guitar or testing different cymbal combinations, every detail scrutinized and adjusted with precision. This approach is reminiscent of their parallel activity, Foleytronics, where they repair and operate vintage audio equipment with the same obsessive care. The result is a polished album, where psych-rock and shoegaze meet in an aesthetic that is both luminous and enveloping. The intensive use of synthesizers, notably a restored 1971 Mellotron, gives *Sunbeam Dream* a depth comparable to classics by The Verve or The Charlatans, while letting each element bask in a twilight haze that magnifies the whole.
