Hardcore supergroup Split Cranium returns with an album wilder than ever. Split Cranium is back with their second album, "I'm The Devil and I'm OK." Turner and Lehtisalo didn't waste any time, opening the album with a track featuring Faith Coloccia (Mamiffer, Mara) on keyboards, inspired by Popol Vuh (a 70s German band). With the track "Evil Hands," she delivers a merciless reinterpretation in the vein of Discharge. The ferocity of bassist Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders, Old Man Gloom) and Tomi Leppänen (Circle, K-X-P) is highlighted by contrasting breaths, simultaneously giving "I'm the Devil and I'm Okay" a rounded, deeper, and more vicious sound. The result is a more complex record than the first, creating a contrast between melody and noise. It features the components of d-beat hardcore style; the band retains the speed and aggression of this musical genre while expanding their musical spectrum, ranging from beauty to pure ugliness.
