Hot rhythms and cold synths, Im Takt stands at the confluence of these two worlds, a kind of Mandingo music with a Goethe twist, a hot/cold mix that is, above all, danceable. Many ingredients go into the trio's composition: the acid sounds of Berlin clubs, mixed with hot African rhythms, and the striking energy of 80s post-punk. After releasing two self-produced EPs since the band's formation in 2010, Im Takt is releasing their first album on Monopsone, produced and mixed by Debruit (debruit.com). The first two EPs allowed the band to perform live and accumulate over sixty concerts in France and abroad (notably in Japan), including opening acts for Metronomy and Catherine Ringer (one of which was at the Olympia), the Transmusicales de Rennes, and the Vieilles Charrues festival. Three years of existence have allowed the trio to affirm their live performance and clearly define their artistic identity. "Another Reality" breaks Im Takt's initial cold and synthetic aesthetic, refocusing on warmer, Africanist sounds, present in their early live performances—one of the project's strengths.
