Ignacio Maria Gomez brings forth extraordinary beings. A young virtuoso artist, poet, and enchanting singer, Ignacio is primarily a nomad open to life, traversing cultures and traditions to create music that is profoundly cosmic, serving as a bridge between the South American and African continents. A young Latino griot born in Argentina, he discovered the ancestral Guinean music in… Mexico, and has even been teaching it since the age of 15! Could Manding blood flow in his veins? To find out, this precocious musician has traveled through the Afro-descendant communities of South America, from Guatemala (the Garifunas) to Colombia (the Balantes). These multiple identity journeys have nourished his imagination, leading to the revealed language in which he sings, evoking both Amerindian shamanic rituals and Manding praises in Malinke. Accompanied by his guitar, he envisions a matrix Guinea, open to bossa and chacarera, as well as Amerindian or Caribbean folklores. Manding influences surface in the softness of his vocal intonations, the melodious strings of his guitar, and the reassuring strength of his liberated songs, featuring, on the album, Vincent Segal, Naïssam Jalal, and Ballaké Sissoko.
