DANISH PUNK / POST-PUNK BAND RELEASES A COMPILATION OF UNRELEASED TRACKSShake The Feeling: Oakes & Rarities 2015-2021 is the new compilation from Danish punk / post-punk band Iceage on Mexican Summer. It is a collection of tracks that did not make it onto the band's last albums, Plowing Into the Field of Love (2014), Beyondless (2018), and Seek Shelter (2021). This record delves into Iceage's vault with unreleased and rare tracks that fans and newcomers alike will appreciate, it's a study of the powerful songwriting and raw execution that have defined the Danish band. As on all Iceage albums, whether it's the sensual audacity of their dark-hardcore debut You're Nothing, the shift to gothic cowpunk romance of Plowing Into the Field of Love, or the spatial gospel-rock of their most recent albums, Elias Bender Rønnenfelt, Johan Suurballe Wieth, Jakob Tvilling Pless, and Dan Kjær Nielsen make the impossible easy. The album moves forward and backward in time, with tracks written during the four years between Plowing Into The Field of Love and Seek Shelter, colliding with covers of two 60s tracks: Bob Dylan's "I'll Keep It With Mine" and Abner Jay's "My Mule." Iceage maintains its initial values of punk and hardcore negativity. Perhaps Shake The Feeling is more a record that documents the band at different moments in its members' young lives rather than a "work of art." Perhaps the songs on Shake The Feeling fit together well like any group of outsiders, gathered in a small group alone in the darkness of the world.
