In the 60s, before joining Deep Purple, Ian Gillan was part of the group The Javelins, with which he did covers of Blues, Jazz, Country, Soul, or Pop artists. 50 years later, the Deep Purple singer reunited with his former bandmates to record 16 covers, just like in the good old days. On the program, only songs that the group performed in concerts at the time: “Hallelujah I Love Her So” by Ray Charles, “Rock n Roll Music” by Chuck Berry, “Heartbeat” by Buddy Holly, and “Smokestack Lightnin'” by Howlin' Wolf. All these artists helped Ian Gillan find his voice.
