{"product_id":"ian-dury_4000-weeks-holiday_2026_disco-bertus-france","title":"4000 Weeks Holiday","description":"As part of a broader and ongoing reissue initiative of his catalog, Demon Records is pleased to once again offer the album \"4000 Weeks' Holiday\" on classic black vinyl, unavailable since 1990, except in the \"The Vinyl Collection\" box set released in 2014. Released in 1984, this album is the second published by Polydor and the first and only album by Ian Dury \u0026amp; The Music Students. Songwriting was shared between Ian Dury, Russell Hardy, Rod Melvin and the young American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Michael McEvoy. Although performed by a somewhat new lineup, \"4000 Weeks' Holiday\" benefited from the participation of many familiar musicians. Chas Jankel, although he did not write any songs, played guest lead guitar, while Ed Speight and Geoff Castle, who had played on Dury's landmark album \"New Boots and Panties!!\" in 1977, contributed guitar and Moog synthesizer. The sessions also welcomed the famous reggae\/ska trombonist Rico Rodriguez MBE, while most of the recordings were made by the \"Music Students,\" consisting of McEvoy, Rhys-Jones, drummer Tag Lamche and saxophonist Jamie Talbot. The single \"Really Glad You Came\" was released and the group performed on national television, notably on the show The Tube. The album also contains \"Peter the Painter,\" written at the request of British pop artist Peter Blake, Dury's former teacher at the Royal College of Art in London. Blake was organizing an exhibition at the Tate Gallery in London and had asked Dury to compose a musical theme for it. \"Peter the Painter\" was that theme. The cover, one of the last designed by Barney Bubbles, depicts Ian Dury with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) logo (the peace symbol) in his hair; in 1984, Ian was one of the official faces of this activist group in Great Britain.","brand":"Ian Dury","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57307333001560,"sku":null,"price":20260626.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/5014797913615.jpg?v=1779216456","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/ian-dury_4000-weeks-holiday_2026_disco-bertus-france","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
