After 10 years of Italian triumphs from 1720 to 1730, Handel brought him to London between 1729 and 1731. Partenope and Alexander in Poro (at the end of this CD) were written for him. He received the title of Virtuoso of Emperor Charles VI. Francesco Borosini (Modena 1690\/1747): engaged at the Imperial Court of Vienna from 1712 to 1731, Borosini was the first great Italian tenor to sing in London. He worked with Handel, to the point that the composer rewrote certain arias at the artist's request. The role of Bajazet in particular has a particularly wide range of 2 octaves. John Beard (1717-1791) was Handel's star tenor during his Oratorio period in the mid-18th century; these being very dramatic, they were performed much more in Theatres than in Churches.
