Matt Scottoline recorded Hurry’s fourth studio album, 'Fake Ideas', in the days leading up to the COVID-19 outbreak, not that the two are connected in any way, with band members Rob DeCarolis (Univox), Justin Fox (Cherry, Kite Party), and Joe DeCarolis (Psychic Teens). 'Fake Ideas' is the follow-up to Hurry’s Every Little Thought, which was released on Lame-O Records in 2018. 'Fake Ideas' maintains the band’s beloved anxious amiability, while taking a more guitar-driven route to delve deeper into their power-pop sound. Compared to the Posies and Matthew Sweet, the band lists Teenage Fanclub, Oasis, Gin Blossoms, and Guided by Voices as influences. One of their songs was played on a loop in Gap stores. It was a rather dark track. Most of the stores have since closed. Again, there is no indication of a connection between the two facts. 'Fake Ideas' blends love songs with songs exploring Matt’s experience with anxiety disorder, and how these deceptive thoughts, ideas, and feelings can create a false image of his own world. These anxiety-driven songs can sometimes also be love songs.
