Les trésors de Claude Le Jeune

Description

During the second half of the 16th century, the Franco-Flemish composer Claude Le Jeune (who was also the Music Master of King Henry IV) was among the most important of his time, despite the censorship of the clerical authority that weighed on his work. He notably composed a significant number of motets, madrigals, and songs gathered in a masterful anthology entitled "Livre de mélanges". The vocal ensemble Huelgas and its conductor Paul VanNevel, specialized in the interpretation of polyphonic music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, offer us here a splendid selection, a precious and essential testimony of one of the most eminent musicians of his time. Recorded at the Church of Ecoyeux (Charente Maritime) in July 2013. Documented booklet in French (text by Paul Van Nevel), with sung texts.
