Ten years after his recording debut, Horace Silver delivers with Song For My Father one of the peaks of his catalog. The album reflects the evolution of his quintet, with two tracks from a 1963 session, then four others recorded in 1964 with a new lineup including Joe Henderson, Carmell Jones, Teddy Smith and Roger Humphries. It notably features the iconic title track, inspired by his Cape Verdean roots and by the music discovered during a trip to Brazil.
