Besides Bob Marley, few Reggae figures are known to the general public. Horace Andy is one of them. His long collaboration with Massive Attack brought international recognition to the falsetto voice of this Jamaican artist. He began his career in Kingston in the late 60s, but it was in the early 70s that he achieved success and recorded his hit "Skylarking", which has since become a true signature song. He then collaborated with numerous Jamaican producers, such as Bunny Lee and Tappa Zukie, respectively mentor and brother of Rodguel Blackbeard Sinclair. It was through them that the two men met. Strickly Ranking traces this fruitful collaboration through 12 rare, even unreleased, tracks. This was the golden age of roots reggae, and Blackbeard surrounded himself with the best musicians, with Robbie Shakespear on bass and Santa Davis on drums, and, with the help of King Tubby, created one of his best productions. Together, they provided Horace Andy with a setting in which his inimitable voice could flourish, on 11 original compositions and a cover of Bob Marley's famous "Natural Mystic". The best of reggae, with a warm, organic sound and an enchanting pulse. All presented in meticulous artwork, with superb photos by Beth Lesser (a photographer who witnessed this crucial period). "A rare album, produced during the golden age of reggae, with the contribution of King Tubby. A must-have!"
