This Leeds-based quintet has been terrorizing the headliners they play with for a while now (notably Wooden Shjips, Sun Araw, and Peaking Lights). The psychedelic rock they play is far from flower-power escapism but offers a catharsis, a confrontation with strong themes: depression, loss, anger. Hookworms resonate like thunder, and like Spaceman 3, they divert psychedelia towards a wickedly punk sound, chronicling the singer MJ's suicide attempt throughout their songs.
