Marking the first single from ‘Coat of Arms’, “Sublime Disconnect” is a perfect distillation of the sound Holiday Ghosts have honed throughout their career. Co-vocalist Kat Rackin’s driving drum style and staccato vocal delivery propel a jangling guitar melody and frantic bassline, until a catchy chorus of “ba ba ba’s” bursts over the entire endeavour. However, behind the playful demeanour lies a deeper lyrical meaning. The lyrics of “Sublime Disconnect” are about a dissonance of identity. "Sublime Disconnect" can be seen as the album's political fulcrum, the song anchors the band's activist identity.
