After two acclaimed instrumental albums, *Feral Hymns* (2021) and *Acts of Light* (2023), Hilary Woods returns to vocals with *Night CRIÚ*. This new record marks a reclamation of her voice, which she had to relearn how to use, placing vocal harmony and the prominence of words at the heart of her approach. The album, consisting of seven tracks, explores intimacy as a path to making the unconscious conscious. *Night CRIÚ* is presented as a ceremony of light and shadow, a space where vulnerability and sonic intensity intermingle. Hilary Woods integrates scattered fragments, forgotten or fragile areas that resurface at night to be reintegrated in broad daylight. The album expresses both the loss of innocence and a resistance to a dominant, homogenizing culture, through a sonic palette that brings together voice, strings, brass, electronics, piano, and field recordings. Inspired by the resurgence of indigenous languages, the processions and parades of her childhood, ancient Irish music, as well as Northern Soul dance and certain Central European cinematic aesthetics, the record was recorded between Ireland, London, and Latvia. Produced and written by Hilary Woods, mixed by Dean Hurley with collaborations from musicians such as Gabriel Ferrandini and the Hangleton Brass Band, *Night CRIÚ* aims to be both a landmark and a liberation.
