{"product_id":"high-tone_underground-wobble-2-vinyls_2011_lad","title":"UNDERGROUND WOBBLE (2 vinyls)","description":"HIGH TONE. LEADERS OF THE FRENCH DUB SCENE! True sorcerer's apprentices when it comes to massive vinyl sampling, dub alchemy in sound effects, neo-electronic tweaking and cascading hip-hop scratching... The High Tone brothers have seemingly nonchalantly and (above all) freely traversed the byways of so-called current music (novo \u0026 live dub, jungle, drum'n'bass, trance techno, etc.) since the dawn of the digital age, always in search of the right frequencies: low \u0026 high tones! Obviously in the warmth of the sounds. In fact, the adventures of the club of five musicians began in 1997, when free parties were in full swing in the undergrowth across Europe and, between two rivers in Lyon, the supportive new scene began to clear our ears in a joyous sonic effervescence (Kaly Live Dub, Meï Teï Shô, Le Peuple de l'Herbe, to name but a few...) After several self-produced EPs, the group leveraged the Y2K bug to release their 1st album, titled Opus Incertum, already on the independent label Jarring Effects, which to this day intelligently accompanies High Tone's destiny on the road to total artistic freedom. Music immediately self-described as ethno-dub to avoid a catalog of metaphysical or merely media-related questions... and High Tone was directly catapulted as the spearhead of the French dub scene (with Improvisators Dub and Zenzile); a scene that would drive the point home by giving a new youth to said dub in a direct live version, in contrast to its older British sister who had brought the reign of machines in studios avid for remixes to the forefront. UNDERGROUND WOBBLE LIMITED EDITION (+ AUDIOACTIVISM #2 COMPILATION) On first listen, one gets the curious feeling that the combo picks up hostilities where it left us on the track that closed Wave Digger. As if the aptly named \"Afraid of Nothing\", ecstatic and ethereal, consciously or unconsciously bridged the gap with what its successor would offer. Underground Wobble indeed seems calmer, far from the Jungle, Hip Hop, Electronica or Dub experimentations that characterized Wave Digger. This opus is set in more downtempo universes, where machines and programming have left more room for instruments. The very narrative, often complex compositions inevitably immerse the listener in a psychedelic and hazy journey (\"Understellar\", \"Round Trip\"...) punctuated here and there by nervous and versatile tracks (\"Freakency\", \"Ask The Dust\", \"Speed 110\"). The harmonies and melodies have also evolved, taking High Tone towards a sound that is more accomplished than ever, instantly recognizable, rich and inhabited by the abundant influences of the five protagonists. One inevitably thinks of the Bristol scene, of smoky Austrian Trip Hop, with the G Stone stable at the forefront, even if these shortcuts are necessarily easy and the High Tone touch is so personal, combining electronic music, ethnic samples and surgical scratches with disconcerting talent. In short, UW constitutes an additional stone in the group's discographic edifice, tirelessly guided by pioneering, opening new avenues with the aim of never paraphrasing itself. This state of mind is the prerogative of the greats. The quintet, both live and on its albums, is destined to become a classic of the genre, exploring all possible avenues ---Nova Planet ---. High Tone has managed to retain the best of ten years of intense activity and is now fully exploiting its capabilities ---Longueur d'Ondes ---.","brand":"High Tone","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310359986520,"sku":null,"price":20111010.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3521381519860_151eda00-052d-46bc-a362-a281eb5886ff.jpg?v=1760317050","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/high-tone_underground-wobble-2-vinyls_2011_lad","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
